Live Commentary

  1. - So Stoner wins his fourth race of the season and this third on the bounce! Thanks for joining us today, make sure you join us again in Laguna Seca!

  2. 0' Dovizioso comes in fifth, with Guintoli in sixth, followed by Capirosi and De Puniet!

  3. 0' STONER WINS THE GERMAN GP! Rossi crosses the line in second... and it's Vermeulen who takes third ahead of De Angelis!

  4. 1' Stoner starts the final lap 4.5 seconds ahead...

  5. 2' Stoner closing in on victory... but the real battle is for third... between Vermeulen and De Angelis! Vermeulen winning it so far....

  6. 4' The top six bikes all sport Bridgestone tyres, with just one exception - Dovizioso in fifth.

  7. 5' Stoner's lead is now 5.4 seconds as Rossi closes the gap slightly...

  8. 6' De Angelis is pushing Vermeulen in third place... he wants a first podium finish badly, but for the moment the Aussie is holding him off..

  9. 7' Just 13 riders left in the race... it's all Stoner's if he can keep his head.

  10. 8' The rain is starting to pelt down again... it really doesn't seem to matter to Stoner though... he's racing a superb race today.

  11. 9' Edwards is down! And he's out of the race - his bike hits the wall and there's no way he can get back on it! Real shame for the Yamaha rider!

  12. 10' Rossi becomes the fastest man on the track today... a few more of those and Stoner might start to worry.

  13. 11' No word on Pedrosa yet... he might have gone to the mobile medical unit for a check out.

  14. 12' Vermeulen battling with De Angelis in third place... while Stoner goes quick again to open up a 4.8 second lead on second-placed Rossi.

  15. 13' Should things stay as they are, Stoner's title challenge will receive a huge boost... things will be very, very tight between Pedrosa, Rossi and the Australian at the top of the standings....

  16. 14' Stoner leads by 4.3 seconds... can he hold on for his third consecutive championship win?

  17. 15' 15 laps gone, and Stoner leads, followed by Rossi and Vermeulen... De Angelis, in fourth, is gaining fast though.

  18. 17' Action galore! Bridgestone tyres are working well at the moment, Michelin less so.

  19. 19' Vermeulen up to third! What a moment for the Rizla Suzuki man! He started the race in 14th!

  20. 20' Melandri crashes out! He's out of the German GP! A real shame for the Italian rider!

  21. 21' West is down! But he gets back up soon enough and is back on his way!

  22. 22' Melandri puts in the fastest lap of the race! Incredible!

  23. 23' Hayden is in the pits! He needs new tyres... Rossi up to second behind Stoner!

  24. 24' So, Stoner is in the lead, from Dovizioso, Edwards, Rossi, Vermeulen, De Algelis and West!

  25. 25' PEDROSA IS OUT! PEDROSA IS OUT! He simply slips over on the wet! Massive moment in the championship race!

  26. 27' This is stunning riding from Pedrosa in the wet... and look at West! He started last on the grid but is in eighth now!

  27. 28' Lorenzo is down! A high side coming out of the corner and he's not going to get his bike back up and running...

  28. 28' You can harly see the riders as they come over the hill, such is the spray coming off the track!

  29. 28' Pedrosa is way ahead in the wet! 2.124 seconds ahead!

  30. 29' Dani Pedrosa already in a 1.3 second lead and as he comes down the hill, there's real daylight between him and the chasing pack! Super start!

  31. 30' Toseland into sixth from the start! Stoner in third and Edwards in fourth! No fallers!

  32. 30' Edwards off to a good one! Pedrosa leads from Dovizioso!

  33. 30' Here we go! They're off at a saturated Sachsenring!

  34. - The bikes are out on their warm-up lap.... it's so wet out there! Expect thrills and spills!

  35. - Nearly race time... the helmets are going on as the riders complete their final preparations out on the track.

  36. - The grid girls have still got their brollies up... and it's not to protect the riders from the sun! The rain is still coming down in Germany...

  37. - Casey Stoner is on pole after a super performance in qualifying, with Dani Pedrosa in second.

  38. - It's been raining hard all morning and the track has gone from damp to wet... it should make for an interesting race.
