Spain midfielder Xavi has been named the best player at Euro 2008 after helping Luis Aragones' troops to glory in Austria and Switzerland. The 28-year-old Barcelona player, the heartbeat of Spain's midfield during the tournament, was voted the Castrol player of the tournament by a nine-strong panel of UEFA's technical experts.
There was no place for Cristiano Ronaldo in the 23-man squad of the tournament however.
The squad did include Manchester United's keeper Edwin van der Sar, Michael Ballack and Jose Bosingwa from Chelsea, Arsenal's Cesc Fabregas, Liverpool striker Fernando Torres, and Tottenham-bound midfielder Luka Modric.

I wish David Villa could have played in the final, i am sure then he would have had been voted for the best player...he was just awesome...way much better than Torres or Xavi and he played nice also on this tournament... However Fabregas should have been better
GO XAVI!!
Xavi very prolific and talented. How i wish he will keep up with that spirit, As for Torroes, his fitness has play a great role to the spain . I am very happy with Ballack i will called him Baltigaol, i hope to hear and see him as a world palyer before he retire.I admire him so much and i love to see him play though he lost he is a favourite.
