Sibierski hints at Latics exit

Tue 27 May, 12:45 PM

Antoine Sibierski is considering his Wigan future after being used mostly as a substitute in his first season at the club. The Frenchman joined The Latics from Newcastle 12 months ago but after a bright start he lost his place in the team due to injury.

He was given few opportunities to start under Steve Bruce with Emile Heskey, Marcus Bent and Marlon King also vying for spots up front.

Sibierski admits that he became frustrated by his lack of playing time and is now not sure that he wants to stay.

The 34-year-old is keen to keep playing for at least two more years and has been linked with a number of French clubs and Championship sides.

"I started the season strongly but then got some injuries," Sibierski said in the Manchester Evening News.

"When I came back there had been a change of coach and he started using me as a 'joker', which worked pretty well because I was decisive.

"Sometimes I would be playing for 30 minutes, sometimes for 10. I will reflect on my future now that the season has ended but feel capable of playing for another two years.

"The coach wants to keep me, I'll think about it and I will also listen to my agent."
