Abbott bemoans injury setback

Fri 25 Jul, 01:30 PM

Striker Pawel Abbott has bemoaned his injury nightmare after sustaining his second knock of Darlington's pre-season preparations. The 26-year-old missed the end of last season with a hamstring problem and has seen his pre-season decimated by a knee injury and now an Achilles problem, meaning he has missed both of the Quakers' friendlies to date.

"I'm devastated - it's just one injury after another and it's always a different one," he said.

"I've been keeping on top of the hamstring and that's OK now - but it now seems like I'm going through every injury.

"It started off with the knee and I was going through the rehab, and now it's the Achilles. The knee has cleared up and we were planning to step up the training this week but the the Achilles flared up.

"After the injuries last season I had wanted to start again and get a good pre-season under my belt. I missed a bit of pre-season last year so wanted to have a good one this year and start the season well but again I'm injured. I've never been injured so much in my career."
