Bernd urges Real to pay Ron fee

Sun 22 Jun, 04:30 PM

Bernd Schuster has urged Real Madrid to "pay what is necessary" to lure Manchester United superstar Cristiano Ronaldo to the Bernabeu.United continue to insist the winger is not for sale, but with Ronaldo refusing to publicly commit to the European champions, a move may be on the cards.

A world-record transfer fee of 100 million euros has been talked about and Schuster insists the Primera Liga champions must be ready to dig deep.

"For a player of his kind of level, we must pay what is necessary," he told German television channel DSF. "Because, for us what is most important is to win the Champions League and he can help us achieve that."

United have reported the Spanish club to world governing body FIFA over what they consider to be attempts to unsettle the player.

And the Madrid boss admitted he would have behaved similarly with such a vital player as Ronaldo, who scored 42 goals in all competitions last season.

"When you have a player of such quality nobody wants to let him go," he added.

  2. Mike from Bolton. Iam and have been for many many years a Man United supporter. The club have brought through many great players over the years, and have always managed to buy top class player, with the odd exception.I think Madrid have behaved badly and the govening body of football within Europe and the World should take them to task, for the way they have conducted themselves over this issue.
I would also like to say that C.R is a very good player, but without the class and respect his employers have shown him while he has been in there employ. Were would he C.R be without the players that are currently making chances for him week in week out at Old Trafford he is not that good, has has still to learn that one man does not make a team, he makes a contribution as was the case in the European Champions Tor for PORTUGAL where I felt he was ordinary. When he has performed year in year out at the level of R.G P.S G.N Bobby.Charlton Denis Law ect ect then he and his admirers Real Madrid can justify there claims. I say sell! sell!sell! and let Nani take over the job.
