The Spanish side lost the first leg 29-27 in Madrid, but came back strongly at the Sparkassen Arena to deny Kiel their second successive title.

The two top scorers of Ciudad Real, Olafur Stefansson and Jonas Kallman, were decisive, with 23 goals combined.

Kiel gave themselves hope after fighting back to make it 22:25, but Real goalkeeper Árpád Sterbik hit a hot-streak, saving the Germans' next three attacks while Ciudad scored three times in a row to practically seal the match with five minutes to play.

The triumph is Ciudad's second in their history, having won the title back in 2006.
