Sven-Goran Eriksson has said he wants his future with Manchester City decided "within hours" after finishing the season with an 8-1 drubbing by Middlesbrough.
The former England manager has found his position under constant scrutiny amid public criticism from club owner Thaksin Shinawatra and rumours that his job has been offered to Portugal coach Luiz Felipe Scolari.
City finished the season ninth, an improvement of 13 points and five places on last season, but Eriksson is expected to leave the club after failing to convince Shinawatra of his worth.
The Swede could be jobless by Monday morning after calling on the former Thai Prime Minister to end the uncertainty over his position and saying he wanted to meet him "now".
"The problem is that we have to speak clearly face to face and see what the club wants to do," Eriksson said.
"Living in uncertainty is not good for anyone. I hope that there will be some sort of meeting.
"There should be now that the league is finished. It's important for the club for next season."
If the Swede does leave Eastlands, his reign will have ended in humiliating fashion - the 8-1 scoreline was the most emphatic of the Premier League season and Eriksson admitted it was an "embarrassing" way to finish.
"It is difficult to take whenever you lose. But, when you lose like this, it is awful," he said.
"We were not even on the pitch -- the team had totally gone and it was embarrassing for everyone."
