Notts County defender Mike Edwards is set to undergo a minor ankle operation now that the regular League Two season has come to a close.The 28-year-old is set to go under the knife to remove a plate that was inserted when he broke his ankle last summer.

Edwards insists he will be fit and ready for pre-season training and told the Nottingham Post: "It is nothing major. It is one of them where you can leave it in or take it out.

"I want to have it done as soon as possible because then it gives me longer to recover for pre-season.

"I will have to be steady on it for a couple of weeks but I will be ready for pre-season."
